Yes, it is a 6. It is washable and perfect for the slippers that I am knitting. Knits up very quickly and easily.

The package I just bought says weight #6.

this is a 6 weight and works up, like all other 6's

It is bulky but not like #6 Lion Home Town USA would be the yarn I would use

The label does show this as a five weight. The reason for the confusion is the nice loft in this yarn. You can work with a hook as small as an H (5mms) and it will lightly compact. I think this quality improves the stitch definition but still works up fast!

Hi, correction to my previous post. I checked again and the package does show it to be a #6. I am surprised, I guess because of the yardage... 108 yards on a #6 skein is very unusual. The package also recommends an M hook (9mms), but I used a J hook for edging and it worked just fine.

Is this a "super bulky" yarn? More like a #6 weight?

Walmart uses a lot of 3rd party sellers and they are suppose to ship the newest yarn. I am trying to purchase Natural and it averages $2 more per skein and may also have to also pay shipping to your home and also to Walmart.

Hello, The Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn does not pill or leave fuzz.  It is 100% acrylic.  Please follow the laundry instructions.  Machine Wash in Cool Water, Delicate Setting
Tumble Dry, Low Heat, Delicate Cycle.  Thank you.

I have used this yarn a lot!  Every single blanket I made has pilled and left fuzz all over the place no matter how many times they are washed.  I stopped using them because of that.  I loved crocheting with the yarn, but I was embarrassed by all the people who mentioned how much they had to pull off the fuzz after washing!  Lots of nice colors, but I won't use it.

Bernat yarn is great quality.  The chunky yarn is easy to work with and is a great way to practice more difficult stitches.

Nice Neutral Color

I LOVE the color and texture of this yarn! I made an afghan using this color Faded Denim, and white and the contrast came out absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Because it is "super chunky" yarn and I used 2 strains of yarn each, the afghan has a really nice weight, without being too light. :)
