Q: How long is Flaxseed meal good after the best used by date (1-9-2018)
A: At room temperature, whole flaxseed can last for six months past the written expiration date on the package, while ground flaxseed only has a shelf life of about a week past the written expiration date. ... Flaxseed contains delicate omega-3 fatty acids that can go rancid rapidly. If you are trying to obtain the benefits of flaxseed, I recommend just purchasing a new batch for the best potency.
submitted byMoy Young - 6 years agoA: Try storing it in the freezer if you want a longer life!

Q: Does this have to be stored in the refrigerator? Is refrigerating for longevity or quality? If it is consumed within 3 to 4 weeks, would the quality be less if not refrigerated?
A: It is highly recommended to purchase ground flaxseeds that are in a vacuum-sealed package or have been refrigerated since once flaxseeds are ground, they are much more prone to oxidation and spoilage.

Q: When it is ground up, doesn’t it lose some of its nutritional value like omega-3s, etc.?
A: Hello and thank you for your question. Our Flaxseed Meal is ground slowly to ensure that the meal is not heated and this preserves all of the nutrients present in the flax. Nothing is removed before grinding.
