This is so educational as well as fun. There is more than one stone in each block. This kept the kids busy for a long while during our quarantine. This is a great educational & fun activity. It is messy, but the directions warn you of that. My 7-year-old loved digging for gems.

Great Value and stocking stuffer

We got this for our daughter who loves to dig for pretty rocks and dinosaur bones in the backyard. She was so excited every time she found another pretty rock in this excavation kit! She asked for another one as soon as the first and he was done. It is a bit messy so we had her do it on a cookie sheet. But overall really fun!

Fun for kids who love to dig for rocks!

This is a great product. My granddaughter had so much fun excavating the fossil rock. Very easy to do. It’s messy ( we used a tray) but a controlled mess. She enjoyed digging with the tool until her rock was unveiled. Great at home science project. I highly recommend this product.

Lots of fun

This is such a fun excavation kit. My daughter is nine years old and loved this! We put newspaper down on the patio table and gave her a cup of water. After soaking the “stone” for a couple minutes, she began using the chisel tool that is included to find the surprise inside. It did take a little time and digging until she found her stone. -A purple amethyst! She was so happy and it was fun watching her. To her surprise, there were actually two amethyst stones included. As soon as she was done finding her stones, she asked if we can buy more of these! She really wants to find a fossil in one. This is a great little project for any kids who like “surprise” toys or has an interest in geological excavation!

So fun!

Me and my daughter had a blast digging out the stones. This comes with easy to follow instructions all you really need to add is some water and an area that you don't mind making a mess in. After you place the whole thing in water to soften it up it turns into a mud that you then can easily remove with the chisel to remove the stones. This is fun for the whole family. It is a great activity for parents to do with their kids and at the end you get to keep what you have found forever as a memory. I absolutely would recommend this dig kit and I plan to get more of these in the future.

My 6.5 year old had such a great time digging this he thought it was so awesome! He found four fossils and was so excited. The fossils were not just in one spot but in different spots so he had to work at it a little and that made it more fun for him because it didn’t just last a few minutes but like a half hour. We did put it in water as suggested and he was very excited to get started. I would definitely recommend this for your child or for a gift.

Awesome for kids and easy for them

What a fun project. It said that you could soak the stone in water and it would be a lot quicker to get your stone fossil out. But we wanted it to take a little longer. So we just chipped away at it while it was dry. It was really cool when we started to find our fossil. Which were Rose Quartz. This was a really nice hands on learning experience for my grandson. I think these would make great gifts anytime of the year.

Learning Experience

Well! I guess its my fault i took mini collection as a small amount of cars rather then mini mini cars. My son was happy but i was not! These are so small they belong in a vending machine. They are good detail and quality but not at all what i thought i was buying.

Crap

My son is really into digging for rocks and collecting them as a hobby. I bought this under the advertised "impression" given that after you "soften" the large "clay-like" rock with the included digging "stick" you would find a "few" different collectible minerals/rocks. The stone included that you use to dig is a decent-sized rock (around 5-6") whereas you would more than likely receive at the very minimum at least 4-5 smaller stones inside. We followed the instructions by getting the initial gray rock wet and within a few minutes of letting the water do its job, it began to soften it into a "clay-like" surface for easier digging. BTW...this made quite the mess so make sure you use either newspaper or a paper plate underneath. Well, that worked exactly as anticipated BUT as we began to dig, and dig all we found were "2" rather non-unique, very basic gray stones. These were the type of stones you'd find in someone's driveway really. This was a huge disappointment because when you read the enclosed directions along with all the photos on the outside of the package you are lead to believe there would be a decent assortment of precious and/or different sized and shaped minerals/stones you'd like to add to a collection inside. Geez, the stones we found were the size of about a nickel, and much to our total dismay, only a TOTAL of "2" stones were found after all mess, the time it took, the digging! What a waste of time!

Very disappointing.

Seriously? This teeny little thing is all that was in this egg? My daughter thoroughly crushed the entire thing with the utmost care to find more, but to no avail. Never buying these again. At least the Dino ones came with something decent in size compared to the "egg".
